I registered my EOClassDescription instance, but soon after it was gone

In general you should not register your EOClassDescription manually. The EOClassDescription may be completely flushed when someone calls invalidateClassDescriptionCache. The safe way is to register for the EOClassDescriptionNeededForClassNotification and EOClassDescriptionNeededForEntityNameNotification notifications (put it into your +load) and supply the EOClassDescription on demand.
