Getting InterfaceBuilder 2.5 to run on Leopard

You need to copy a few things over from your working Tiger installation. With all these in place Interface Builder 2.5 starts nicely and doesn't complain. I haven't tested it more.

From /System/Library/Frameworks (Tiger) to /Library/Frameworks (Leopard) a different target directory!

  • InterfaceBuilder.framework
  • WebKit.framework
From /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks (Tiger) to /Library/Frameworks (Leopard) a different target directory!
  • DevToolsIDEServices.framework
  • DevToolsRemoteClient.framework
  • DevToolsInterface.framework
  • DevToolsCore.framework
  • DevToolsSupport.framework
  • JavaKit.framework
From /Library/Application Support/Apple/Developer Tools (Tiger) to /Library/Application Support/Apple/Developer Tools (Leopard)
  • IB Templates
From /Developer (Tiger) to /Developer (Leopard)
  • IB Plugins if available
  • Palettes
From /Developer/Extras (Tiger) to /Developer/Extras (Leopard)
  • Palettes

Getting EOModeler to run on Leopard

You need to copy a few things over from your working Tiger installation. With all these in place EOModeler starts nicely (at least with MulleEOF) and doesn't complain. I haven't tested it more.

From /System/Library/Frameworks (Tiger) to /Library/Frameworks (Leopard) a different target directory!

  • EOModeler.framework
  • InterfaceBuilder.framework sic!
  • WebKit.framework
From /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks (Tiger) to /Library/Frameworks (Leopard) a different target directory!
  • DevToolsIDEServices.framework
  • DevToolsRemoteClient.framework
  • DevToolsInterface.framework
  • DevToolsCore.framework
  • DevToolsSupport.framework
  • IDEServices.framework
  • JavaKit.framework
  • EOModelWizard.framework
  • EOSQLExpressionExtensions.framework
  • WODevKit.framework
Check if these aren't present already! From /usr/lib/java (Tiger) to /usr/lib/java (Leopard)
  • libEOControlJava.A.dylib
  • libEOAccessJava.A.dylib
  • libexpressionextensionsjava.A.dylib
  • libEOControlJava.dylib this is a symbolic link to libEOControlJava.A.dylib, so create manually
  • libEOAccessJava.dylib this is a symbolic link to libEOAccessJava.A.dylib, so create manually
  • libexpressionextensionsjava.dylib this is a symbolic link to libexpressionextensionsjava.A.dylib, so create manually
From /Developer (Tiger) to /Developer (Leopard)
  • EOMBundles if available
If you are not using MulleEOF, as you likely aren't then copy from /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks (Tiger) to /Library/Frameworks (Leopard) a different target directory! the following frameworks
  • EOControl.framework
  • EOAccess.framework
  • EOInterface.framework
otherwise install the MulleEOF frameworks in /Library/Frameworks and the MulleEOModelerHacks.EOMbundle in /Developer/EOMBundles on Leopard.

Leopard and OKI

The transition to 10.5 trashed my KeyChain for some reason, but what's really sad is that OKI Printers don't work under 10.5 yet. Well get going OKI...

Complaint!

launchproxy sshd hack ?

Factoid: I have LittleSnitch2 installed. That program has a little network monitor, in the menu bar. Other factoid, I am paranoid.

OK, so while reading some forums, I was somewhat intrigued, that my DSL outgoing line was staying "red" for a long time. That was pretty unusal, because there shouldn't have been anything going on.

I turned off my mail apps, which were the only candidates for outbound traffic. Still output stayed red. That made me slightly nervous.

So I clicked in the network monitor, and I saw an sshd connection to alandao.org started by launchproxy. I certainly never initiated that myself via terminal. I don't even know what alandao.org is in the first place. And this stuff was apparently sending data from my machine. I tried killing it with kill but it reappeared. It was panic time and I turned off the machine.

Turning the machine back on, I can't reproduce it. What happened ? Is my box already owned ? Hmm...
