When you see an article on Slashdot titled The "Return" of Java Discussed, it took me by surprise that the general public seemed to have wised up to the fact that Java is a toy platform. Or maybe it hasn't and it just became uncool. Whatever. I did expect the hype to last a few more years really.
C# appears to be winning, and that's a fundamentally better language. Though I in general still don't see the advantage of virtual machines on the application level for anything, except for browsers really.
