First, why are the prompts in German? Is that German? Are you German? Sorry I've learned no foreign languages. Hope to someday. Lafferty was a language master. One of many reasons I love his work. How about all the rest of you? "Does Anyone Else Have Anything Further to Add?" (Or some such collection title.)

Is the man still alive? I'm dying to know! If so, do you think he has few enough fans at present to perhaps respond to mail? Or is he too old? He's got to be old!

I'm also interested in him as the finest Christian who wrote fantastic fiction since Lewis and the gang. (That's C.S. and Tolkien and Williams and Chesterton and MacDonald and Bunyan and Milton, etc.) The man is definitely in the top 5 of my favorite writers. I think my favorite short stories I've read to date (it's hard to narrow down) are "Parthen" and "The Configuration of the North Shore."
Why do you love him? Why? Why? Why? I MUST know!! Good day to you.

I first read ANNALS OF KLEPSIS and had never read anything like this anywhere. The author was obviously a genius and very possibly insane. I ran out to a used bkstore, found THE REEFS OF EARTH and, although it was written in a different style, it was also unbelievably unique, brilliant and unlike anything I'd ever read. Since then I was hooked and slowly collected my little Lafferty library, next to my Chesterton, Sheckley, Bradbury and Bruce Jay Friedman. Cheers!

Since then, I've found some of the novels I can't get through easily, it's torture. But the stories were always gold, a treasure trove of the soul of earth and the mysterious ways of being human.

One good way to describe him was that he was a writer's writer. I once ran into an acquaintance, an sf author, and he had a box full of Laff's books. Novels primarily. I believe that he got them from Ray while he was here in town.
