This is a list of all known shortstories, that Lafferty wrote. I allowed myself the liberty to give a short critique to each story I've read. is a story that I'd recommend to anyone. is a story a Lafferty fan would like. are short stories, that are either really boring or just lesser variations of a recurrent theme.
You can now add your own comments to each story if you like, or read what other readers wrote.
Willy McGilly saves the day for Clarence Big-Saddle, whose land used to be the last unsettled part of the country under the "Homestead Act". Used to be! Now it has been claimed by an obnoxious family that won't give up so easily as all the others.

This was the most recent RAL story I've been able to find (been searching for the stuff since the late '70s but have barely scratched the surface). For a man with a serious Lafferty jones, this story really slaked. While the plot was predictable, reading "Narrow Valley" was like going to a very comfortable, but weird, home.

One of my fave-raves along with "Hog Belly Honey". I have reworked telling this theme to audiences of all ages and nationalities in various settings around various campfires over the years.
