Came across this gem in the short work anthology, "My Favorite Fantasy Story" (M. Greenberg, ed.) that I picked up because of the Jack Vance stories also included. Very off-the-wall concept but the dialogue is what really sets this author into that rarified zone of writers you wish to pursue and collect. Read the interesting intro to the piece by Neil Gaiman as well for insight into the RAL psyche.
